Barley Water

    4 cups water
    2-3 tablespoons barley
    1/4 cup raw cane sugar
  1. Bring the barley and water to boil in a medium sized pot, allow to boil for around 15 minutes.
  2. Take the boiled barley off the heat and puree with either an immersion blender or regular blender.
  3. Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  4. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a container. Refrigerate.

(You can also add the juice of 1 lemon and make lemon-barley water, which is pretty tasty.)
Adding 100 grams fresh ginger while boiling the barley also gives it a unique and refreshing taste!
